Basic Correctional Officer Training

Effective July 1, 2023  the tuition for a resident recruit at the DuPage County Basic Correctional Officer academy will be $6,440.00 and the tution for a commuter recruit at the DuPage County Basic Correctional Officer academy will be $3,534.00.

This is the eight-week Basic Correctional Officer Training Course as prescribed by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

This course is designed to prepare correctional officers for daily job tasks as well as handling crisis situations. Recruits have an opportunity for hands-on learning because the course is conducted at a county correctional facility under the supervision of jail staff.

Though a variety of methods including lecture, scenario training, and study groups, recruits are given the best possible learning experience to prepare them for a careers as professional correctional officers.

Enrollment: All courses have a limited number of enrollments, so register early to ensure a spot in the class. Registration may be made only by departmental personnel. Please email Rebecca Roberts (rmr87@illinois.edu) to register for Basic Correctional Officer classes. Students may not enroll themselves.
