Specialty Classes

The Police Training Institute offers advanced specialty classes for current officers to enhance their skills.

** Effective immediately – all officers attending specialized firearms course will be required to bring their own ammunition. Please refer to reporting instructions for ammunition count.**

Required Ammunition Types Pistol Ammunition: • Brass case only • Factory-manufactured / no reloads • Must be jacketed (brass). We prefer FMJ but will accept JHP. • Absolutely no penetrator ammunition and no metal other than brass in the jacket or case. • Students will not have their brass returned to them unless they bring their own container and collect the brass themselves. Shotgun Ammunition: • Any factory 12GA shells (no slugs). We recommend low brass #6-#8 trap/bird shot.
